Zebra Print Heels

Talk about walking on the wild side! Put on a pair of zebra print heels and your wardrobe will be as untamed as the African equines that wear those stripes.

That’s right. After thousands of years in existence, zebras are the only members of the equine family (that’s horses, donkeys and mules to us) that have never been domesticated. When you don a pair of zebra print heels, you’re laying claim to both style and sensuality.

You don’t have to take only our word for the popularity of stripe-y heels. An online search for zebra print heels turned up a whole herd of them.

Kick Up Your Zebra Print Heels

Seventeen Magazine found a pair of Sergio Zelcer heels that combines zebra print with green patent leather. If the thought of those shoes raises a fever, wait until you see stripes paired with fire-engine red, as in peep-toe pumps from iSuperModel on Polyvore.com. Jessica Simpson offers a classic pair in tan and black with 3-1/4 inch heels. One online vendor, My Diva’s Closet, took to even higher heights, with a pair of retro-inspired pleat zebra striped pumps with 4-1/2 inch heels! Another online outlet, GoJane, sported a pair of perfectly divine pumps in stripes with a 3-1/4-inch heel. A similar pair at AmiClubWear were so popular they were completely sold out!

If those examples aren’t enough to whet your appetite for stripes, then consider this: a check on eBay.com turned up 93 new pairs of zebra print heels. Every style imaginable was represented from traditional high-heeled pumps to flirty peep-toes with red accents to the towering peep-toe rockabilly pump bootie from Torrid that’s so popular with everyone from teen-agers to young professionals out on the town. What’s more, you could pick your favorite name in stylish shoes – Jimmy Choo, Bandolino, Michael by Michael Kors, Nine West, Anne Klein – and you’ll find zebra prints trotting through every shoemaker.

So when the right pair of zebra high shoes gallops away with your heart, be prepared to put in some time learning how to keep those stripes under control. Walking in high heels really is a skill that takes practice so that you and your onlookers can enjoy the beauty of your shoes without having to call out an ambulance if you trip and fall.

Here’s How to Rock Those Zebra Print Heels

Slip on your new high heels. Now stand before a full-length mirror and admire yourself. There’s not a diva that can compete with you and your new stripes! Turn slightly to the left and the right to test how the heels feel.

The next thing is to turn away from the mirror (we know it’s hard) and walk slowly across your room. Turn, and walk back to the mirror. You really need to do this on a floor with a hard surface, or on a carpet with low pile, so that you don’t catch your new high heels on something. Stand up straight like Mom said, and walk with your legs together and your feet straight out in front of you. Walk away from the mirror once more, turn, walk, turn, walk, stop.

When you can do this without wobbling, you’re ready to take those zebra print heels out into the world, baby!
